We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet.

What you get to do:

Uplight’s Engage pod is a cross-functional team charged with building and maintaining core systems within our Engagement platform. This includes maintaining paper and email report generation systems, maintaining consumer alert systems, and continuing to build and operate the data pipelines which feed those systems.

An engineer on our pod thrives in an environment where requirements change rapidly and context switching is common. They understand the common trade-offs in software development and understand how to pitch and prioritize work that moves the product in a positive direction. They are an exceptional communicator both within and outside of the engineering organization.

Skills and experience are necessary, but we hire on value alignment first, so if you feel you would be a good fit with us, still consider applying.

What you will contribute:

• Write code and tests, mainly in Java and Scala.
• Manage, maintain, and improve SDLC processes.
• Work with product to create technical requirements.
• Be a supportive teammate/pod mate.

What you bring to Uplight:

• Familiarity with Java and/or Scala development
• Usage of a Public cloud (AWS, GCP)
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures
• Experience/strong familiarity with cloud infrastructure
• Expertise in at least one OOP language
• Experience writing and maintaining data pipelines and ETLs

Bonus Points:

• Experience working on a team with rapidly changing requirements
• Experience working cross-functionally (with designers, product, customer service, sales, etc
• Experience building and/or maintaining CI pipelines
• Experience writing and maintaining data pipelines and ETLs leveraging Spark
