As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will work closely with your team to build the Cloudability UI while honing your craft.

The Team

You will be joining a cross-functional engineering team in charge of building and maintaining the services which support the container cost allocation, resource automation, and partner integration features. The team owns each phase of development with embedded project management, design, operations, data specialists as well as full stack engineers. They are responsible for feature design, development, performance, deployment, and support for the lifecycle of the product. The team is located in Boulder, CO participating in shared on-call duties, each engineer taking a week of on-call time supporting the code we write.

The Role

As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Apptio Cloudability, you must possess a burning desire to design and implement scalable, pragmatic solutions to complex problems; You will be working closely with Backend Engineers, Product Managers and Designers to iteratively improve our UI/UX, to help our customers discover new savings opportunities. You will own the optimization area in the UI. You will work across the organization with the rest of the Frontend engineers to decide the future direction of the Cloudability UI. Additionally, you will mentor members of the UI community within the Cloudability team and the rest of Apptio, to become more proficient Frontend Engineers. You will be expected to participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback and direct learning through focused questions. Above all, you will work as a member of the team to provide our customers with a great product while helping to grow a strong engineering team.

In a Typical Week You Will:

• Commit code to our production systems as well as participate in the testing and validation of new Cost Optimization features
• Work with several engineers to understand their work for the current sprint and give guidance on their work.
• Participate in code reviews, providing feedback, and giving direction
• Join daily standups to discuss project status, new projects, and blocking issues.
• Help lead communities of practice, technical lunch & learn sessions, and engineering book clubs to continue learning 

Basic Qualifications:

• Demonstrated expertise in a common JavaScript browser framework (React, Backbone, Angular, etc.)
• Competent with Git and version control workflows in continuous deployment environments
• Proficient with presentation technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, SVGs
• Experienced with JavaScript testing frameworks (Jest, Enzyme, Mocha, etc.)
• Comfortable with fast moving software design and development methodologies
• Capable of contributing to technical conversation and decisions with well thought out opinions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experienced with modern API design and implementations in languages like Go, Python or Ruby
• Familiar with asynchronous programming patterns i.e. Promises
• Experienced with SASS/LESS or similar CSS pre-processors
• Experienced with Node.js, Grunt, Gulp, Webpack or other task runners and build systems
• Familiar navigating the nuances of 3rd party integrations with applications, APIs and SaaS/PaaS providers
