Primary purpose of the position:
The Senior Engineer, Global Engineering Product Specifications is responsible for creating product specifications for aluminum beverage packages and driving sustainable and standardized packaging design. The Senior Engineer will create and maintain engineering product specifications which include the aluminum usage calculations, product drawings and dimensional targets. The Senior Engineer will be located within and help drive the light weighting and global product specification standardization efforts within one of three operating regions (BPSA, BPNCA or BPEMEA). The Senior Engineer will work with commercial, finance, operations, production planning and customers to determine the best strategy for product lightweight execution within the region.
Essential Responsible Areas:
- Responsible for product specifications and bill of materials within global Teamcenter database.
- Creates and maintains aluminum container product specification data within Teamcenter. Generates global specification reports and distributes as needed to key stakeholders.
- Creates and maintains aluminum metal calculations for container products.
- Validates can weight and specifications after project start-ups and reconciles in Teamcenter
- Facilitate and maintain dialogue on product specifications changes and rollout plans with regional finance, project managers, commercial, operation and production planning teams.
- Responsible for generating regional strategy on aluminum product light weighting and standardization projects.
- Drives cross functional teams and collates data into year over year strategies. Requires analysis of data from commercial, customer, finance, operations and production planning groups to ensure strategy fits business needs.
- Supports regional annual capital planning for projects
- Works with Global Metal Procurement to ensure metal supply strategy is up to date for the region
- Provides input on monthly reporting for can design and light weighting
- Drive standardization and complexity reduction for product, product families and dome designs. Progression to be reported as a Global measure.
- Supports bi-annual competitive can weight analysis and benchmarking study
- Ability to support business cases and financial analysis on product proposals and changes.
- Good customer presentation skills and ability to manage customer relationships. Interacts well with customers to generate light weighting, packaging standardization and validation of package integrity on customer filling lines.
- Seek, identify, & proactively use MS Project timelines with critical path focus and other PM tools to address areas of concern such as lack of resources, project delays, etc. by creating recovery paths where needed
Position Requirement & competencies:
- BS in Engineering or a related technical field, such as mathematics, metallurgy or physics, required.
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Must be able to handle sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
- Illustrates composure and patience and is comfortable with change/unknown.
- Good Business Acumen Skills
- Ability to work across multiple projects and help drive regional lightweight projects to completion.
- Strong ability to overcome roadblocks by enabling others with clear communication and troubleshooting
- Capable of project management and good with project/program management tools such as MS project
- Self-Motivated with a desire to make an impact
- 2 or more years’ experience in aluminum beverage can or end manufacturing.
- Experience working with geographically dispersed engineering and business teams
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Salary Range: $77,500 - $115,500 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- Other Compensation: This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
