Role

GigSmart is looking for a Senior Elixir Engineer. As part of the engineering team, you will work on the platform that powers our apps to helps workers and businesses connect. We're looking for a self-motivated engineer who has a real passion for building and scaling infrastructure using technologies such as Elixir, React, React-Native, Kubernetes, Postgres, and machine learning. Every engineer has input into our product process and will have a real impact as part of a small, nimble team.

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Work with a cross-functional team to design and develop new features that will be used by millions of users
• Use Kubernetes and CI/CD
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks
• Work with big data sets (hundreds of millions of rows)
• Write tests and perform code reviews to ensure that we are shipping reliable, readable, and reusable code
• Research, advise, and implement technology solutions for reliable, scalable, high performing services

Skills and Competencies

• 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer
• Strong experience across relevant technologies including Elixir, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Scala, PHP, Python, etc.
• Strong knowledge of Postgres, MySQL, or other RDBMS
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux
• Working knowledge of source control systems including Git
• Knowledge of functional and object-oriented software design, development and architectural principles
• Ability to work onsite in our Denver, CO office

Nice to have

• Previously built APIs for internal or external applications
• Experience with GraphQL
• Experience with React Native
• Experience with AWS technologies such as DynamoDB, Kinesis, Elastic, MapReduce, or Lambda
• Big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, etc.
• Machine learning
• Automated testing using tools such as RSpec or Junit
