Hello Denver! We are excited to be here!

Snapdocs is expanding & hiring for our first Denver Engineering team members. If you’re excited by the idea of joining the founding Devops team that builds the infrastructure that powers our platform and contributing to a new office culture for a fast-growth startup then you should check out this role.

Are you interested in building the fault tolerant, self healing, scalable foundation that will bring an entire industry into the future? Well, then we have a role for you.  Snapdocs is an early-stage, rapidly growing company backed by investors like Sequoia, SV Angel, and YCombinator and we’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to build the infrastructure that powers our platform.

We're a small team tackling the absolutely massive mortgage market. We're bringing modern, elegant software to a field that still relies on fax machines and manila envelopes. We bring security, efficiency and joy to a paper-based pillar of the US economy. The type of problems we focus on involve workflow, product design, and data. Monolith vs microservice is an ongoing debate. We are working to find a good authentication pattern that allows for people to work across companies in multiple roles (which is trickier than you might think!). Domain Driven Design is our guiding light.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will play a central role in building and maintaining our staging & production Kubernetes environments, creating automation, containerization with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, improving performance, scalability, monitoring, developing best practices for DR and deployments to ultimately ensure 99.99% platform uptime. In addition to contributing to core services, you will build new tools for our engineering team & even lend a helping hand to debug production issues across services when the need arises. You will work with product and engineering teams to release at a high velocity and contribute in all phases of the SDLC. Today our team is working in Ruby on Rails, React, Postgres, GO, AWS, Docker, Terraform & Kubernetes to name a few but things change quickly so be comfortable learning new tools.

Over the past 5+ years or so, you have gained an expertise in Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) systems administration. Today, you have moved everything out of a DC into the cloud and have mastered AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, ElastiCache, Redshift, Elastic MapReduce, Route 53, CloudFormation, Elastic Beanstalk). You strive to automate everything possible and have worked with server automation tools like Terraform and Kubernetes(Helm). All of our traffic flows through Kubernetes today so hands on production experience with K8’s is a must. You have a bias toward testing & know the value of clean code being pushed to production. You know the pain of bugs being pushed & take actions to prevent this from occurring. Bash or Golang are your go to tools for development & scripting today but you are also comfortable working in other languages like Python or Java if needed. A pragmatic approach is what we expect. You fall more into the Dev side of the DevOps spectrum but still maintain deep knowledge of Systems Operations. You have seen scale in your time; solving a diverse range of problems with complex distributed systems & relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redis) in both startups and large organizations. Prior experience working with a geographically distributed and/or remote teams in the past will be plus as you will be working collaboratively with our San Francisco based engineering team on a daily basis.

Snapdocs’ culture is one that strongly values diversity and drive. We want to work with people of different backgrounds and different paths in life, and we trust our team members to make smart decisions. This means we value independent work as well as collaboration. We provide excellent benefits (including a 10 year exercise window on your options (!)) & an environment that empowers people to achieve.
