As the team's Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a core member of the technical team supporting and building our platform. ~70% of your role will involve owning implementation of tooling and processes needed to run activities such as code migration, automated testing execution, environment refreshes, and code review. As such, your main goal will be to facilitate maximum productivity of the dev team, traceability of code changes through environments, and maintenance of high code quality / low instances of bugs in production. The remaining ~30% of your time will be spent as a hands-on application developer, contributing to both technical maintenance initiatives and new functionality. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Design, develop and implement all tooling and processes for application deployment, system automation, and configuration management
  • Deliver highly-available, scalable, tested, and documented solutions 
  • Design, support, maintain and enhance our AWS infrastructure
  • Define, design and implement our CI/CD workflow 
  • Build and maintain tools for application monitoring and system diagnostics 
  • Responding in a timely manner to system alerts and emergencies 
  • Ensure the security of our infrastructure and systems

About You:

  • 3+ years of experience working full-time in a related role
  • Experience using at least two different platforms for managing deployment/migration
  • Experience using at least two types of automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GoCD, CircleCI, Chef)
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, GO, Ruby, etc.)
  • Exposure to configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet or Chef)
  • Prior experience working with AWS or other major public cloud services provider (GPC, Azure)
  • Prior experience developing, deploying and managing highly-available and distributed software
  • Working knowledge of repositories such as GitHub
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering 

More About You:

  • A strong desire to automate any task that is repeatable
  • 2+ years hands-on development using AWS services
  • Experience using related web technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Node ReactJS)
  • You’ve delivered on push-button deployment previously 
  • Strong understanding of networking and systems security 
  • AWS Certification is a plus

Our Stack:

  • Ombud is deployed to Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Our front-end application is written in ReactJS
  • We use Nginx as an HTTP server for static assets and as a reverse proxy to the API
  • Our API layer runs on NodeJS and, for file manipulation services, a JVM-based framework called spark-java
  • For persistence, we’re using Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and Redis
