What You'll Do

• As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll improve our internal engineering operations through tools, technologies and processes. With a focus on managing systems, security, monitoring, recovery, permissions, and performance, you’ll be a key player in keeping our engineering team performing at the high level they have come to expect.

• We’ll be prepared for the worst, thanks to the recovery strategy you’ll put in place and the drills we’ll run through.
• Releases and migrations will be executed at a higher level of sophistication and coordination, thanks to your expertise.
• Our Director of Finance will breathe easy knowing that you have the services and systems budget accounted for.
• Database maintenance will be clearly communicated and carried out at a regular cadence.
• Security won’t keep anyone up at night, knowing that we have been thoughtful and proactive in our strategy.

Who You Are

• You have 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, with 2+ focusing on DevOps.
• You have real cloud experience, and have successfully deployed applications to services such as Heroku, AWS, Google, Azure, etc.
• You use automation to make your job more efficient, and have a history of developing internal scripts and tools that prove it.
• Although you trust AWS, you have also implemented backup plans for Amazon S3.
• You have experience in, and can establish best practices, for PostgreSQL database maintenance strategy and execution.
• Bonus points for experience with log monitoring platforms and alerts with Sumo Logic.
• You are comfortable administering access and permissions for database and various internal applications.
• You can effectively manage hosting cost around spinning up dynos, databases, etc.
• You always have the business goals and KPI’s, such as cost of goods sold, in mind when you make big decisions.
• You’re always thinking about security, and have experience with solutions such as Checkmarx or Qualys.
• You are comfortable being the “go-to” engineer when it comes to security resources for RFPs, etc.
• You consider data consistency and availability tradeoffs when evaluating and selecting distributed systems.
• Your preference is to work in a highly collaborative environment.
• You’re comfortable with feedback - you take it like a champ, implement it with efficiency, and deliver it with tact.
• You have worked in a smaller environment, or in a consulting role, and know how to be resourceful in order to get things done.
• You have an open mind to using the technology that will produce the best results.
• You (preferably) earned a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
