As a Senior Data Engineer on our data engineering team, you will develop and maintain database functionality to support development of a data platform that is changing the game.  

In your role, you will build and implement database technologies and processes that support our corporate products and services. Primarily, your focus will be on preparing, modeling, and processing data for the consumption layer of this new enterprise data platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional database and product development teams using Agile / Scrum methodologies as we accomplish building a scalable and reliable infrastructure for the data platform.

What you will do:

• Develop a data management framework that is effective, scalable and reliable
• Build and maintain database structures, ETL processes, reports and data extracts
• Be the subject matter expert for consumption layer data, providing guidance to teams on best practices, capabilities and limitations
• Research and prototype new technologies
• Oversee data transformation, normalization, cleansing, aggregation, workflow management and business rule application
• Load, process and manage incoming data feeds
• Contribute to the development of architectural roadmaps and perform periodic reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
• Performance tuning of large Data Warehousing platforms, with focus on performant load patterns, semi-structured data processing, database partitioning, and etl/query optimization
• Design of specialized data structures for the purpose of data consumption by a public facing website and/or Business Intelligence data visualization
• Enable integration and deployment tools and methods for managing reliable development life cycle routines
• Create and maintain documentation to support developed applications

What you will bring:

• Data modeling and enterprise level data management experience with relational (MySQL, Redshift, Snowflake) and NoSQL document stores (Elasticsearch, SOLR)
• Previous experience working in or operating a large scale containerized environment using Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
• Knowledge and exposure to building scalable, distributed systems in cloud environments, such as AWS components S3, EC2, EMR, ECS
• Coding skills with Python, Java, or Scala and the ability to craft complex SQL queries from scratch
• Knowledge of distributed data processing techniques and applications (Hadoop, Spark, Hive)
• Strong background in Linux systems and web technologies
• Depth of knowledge in data access layer configuration and report development in one or many BI visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Qlik)
• Capability and desire to interpret business rules and definitions into actionable technical implementations
