Senior Cloud Engineer

As a Senior Cloud Engineer you will work closely with our Software Engineers and Product to build out our SaaS cloud infrastructure and all requisite tooling. You will work in an agile organization which uses SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). We are tackling problems of large scale, huge data, and leveraging the latest technologies. As a Senior Engineer you will be expected to design and implement solutions to meet business needs while following best practices around security, cloud operations, and infrastructure definition/evolution. The ideal candidate will have end to end development lifecycle skills; experience with infrastructure; ability to understand how to develop considering scale, complexity, compliance, security and manage risk. Cloud administration, linux system administration, network administration, SRE and devops skills will all be used.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and Implement cloud infrastructure for SaaS project
- Support the Development organization’s goals of rapid delivery while meeting Service Level Objectives
- Help define, monitor and adjust SLOs as necessary
- Guide and Mentor other engineers
- Ensure that implementation meets security, compliance and performance requirements
- Work closely with Architects to best incorporate cloud-native primitives into design
- Keep up to date on the latest technological innovations in the field
- Produce well-written, appropriate documentation
- Undertake lead role in design and code reviews
- Work independently on complex tasks
- Assist in gathering design requirements
- Support the continued evolution and improvement of our Agile practices
- Participate and provide input into candidate selection
- Ensure systems are secure and updated
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Expert knowledge in a public cloud, AWS preferred
- Strong/Expert knowledge in Kubernetes – installation, configuration, scaling, securing, operating
- Strong/Expert knowledge in Linux administration
- Strong/Expert knowledge in containers (Docker/LXC)
- Strong Python skills
- Strong knowledge in networking
- Strong knowledge in cloud-native visualization tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Excellent monitoring and alerting experience
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnosis skills across the full stack
- Experience with defining infrastructure in code (ex: Terraform)
- Hands-on knowledge of continuous integration tools
- Experience with automated testing as it relates to infrastructure and deployments
- Demonstrated experience creating/maintaining cloud infrastructure at scale
- Experience in cost containment in public cloud
- Experience running stateful and stateless workloads in Kubernetes
- Experience working with version control (git)
Preferred
- Experience with service mesh
- Experience deploying, operating and scaling Elasticsearch
- Experience deploying, operating and scaling Kafka or other queueing/streaming technology
- Experience deploying, operating and scaling PostgreSQL
- Experience with Apache Flink
- Experience with SOC 2, FedRAMP, PCI and HIPAA
- Understanding of git-ops concepts and tooling like weaveworks flux
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of VMWare
- Hands-on experience with Ceph or other distributed file store
- Thanos or Cortex experience
- Implementation of Kubernetes Operators
- Experience with authentication protocols (SAML, OIDC)
