Role

GigSmart is looking for an experienced Back-end Engineer to come solve challenging problems with us. As part of the engineering team, you will work on the platform that powers our apps that help workers and businesses connect. We're looking for a self-motivated engineer who has a real passion for building and scaling infrastructure using technologies such as Elixir, React, React-Native, Kubernetes, Postgres, and machine learning. Every engineer has input into our product process and will have a real impact as part of a small, nimble team.

Job DescriptionResponsibilities

• Work with a cross-functional team to design and develop new features that will be used by millions of users
• Ship production code daily
• Use Kubernetes and CI/CD
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks
• Work with big data sets (hundreds of millions of rows)
• Write tests and perform code reviews to ensure that we're shipping reliable, readable, and reusable code
•  Research and implement technology solutions for reliable, scalable, high performing services

Skills and Competencies

• Strong experience across relevant technologies including Elixir, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Scala, PHP, Python, etc.
• Strong knowledge of Postgres, MySQL, or other RDBMS
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux
• Working knowledge of source control systems including Git
• Knowledge of functional and object-oriented software design, development and architectural principles
• Ability to work onsite in our Denver, CO office

Nice to Have

• Building APIs for internal or external applications
• Elixir Phoenix Framework
• Experience with GraphQL
• Experience with React Native
• Experience with AWS technologies such as DynamoDB, Kinesis, Elastic, MapReduce, or Lambda
• Big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, etc.
• Machine learning
• Automated testing using tools such as RSpec or JUnit
• Scrum/Agile development
