The Security Engineer leads efforts to proactively and reactively protect the organization from any and all security risks and threats, as well as work with other teams and stakeholders to ensure security governance.

​Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders across departments to report out security operations status
  • Proactively works with IT and the business to identify security risks and implement practices that meet standards for information security
  • Security Incident Response – Owns threat management and security incident handling, including the coordination of investigations and reporting of security incidents to management, in alignment with business needs and regulatory requirements
  • Log Review – Reviews consolidated system logs and other audit trails on a regular basis for indications of attacks
  • Manages and continuously improves Healthgrades’ operational approach and systems/tools surrounding vulnerability management
  • Security Monitoring – Ensures audit trails, systems logs and other monitoring data sources are reviewed periodically and are in compliance with policies and audit requirements
  • Designs and implements information security standards, procedures, and controls to meet Healthgrades’ security and compliance needs
  • Analyzes, designs, and develops security features and upgrades of system architectures
  • Establishes and satisfies information security requirements based on analysis of user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands
  • Works with Healthgrades’ Product, Engineering and Infrastructure teams to identify and remediate application- and infrastructure-related vulnerabilities
  • Security Architecture – Architects security solutions and technically leads their implementation from end to end
  • Serves as a resource cross-functionally to share security insight and best practices with teams across the company
  • Security Governance – Develops Information Security Policies, Standards, Procedures and best practices to support Healthgrades’ security control framework
  • Security Due Diligence – Ensures that security is factored into the evaluation, selection, and configuration of hardware, applications and software
  • Security Assessments – Conducts third party security assessments as required
  • Compliance – Ensures compliance to Healthgrades’ control framework and best practices through continuous monitoring and gap analysis. Provides support and guidance for legal and regulatory compliance efforts, including audit support
  • Security Awareness – Promotes information security awareness and develops information security as a core competency throughout the company
  • Evolution and Skill Enhancement – Stays current with security technologies and threats by monitoring vendor and industry publications and attending training

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant degree
  • 3+ years of experience in the information security domain
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, system interactions, attack vectors, security analysis, and information security best practices
  • Proficiency with monitoring and alerting tools and security reporting programs
  • Strong familiarity with web hosting practices, firewalls, incident management, open source technologies/environments, and anti-virus tools
  • Ability to enforce company system and information security policies and devise workable solutions that balance security with business requirements
  • Excellent adaptability, verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence leaders and employees across multiple business units
  • Ability to work extended hours to resolve urgent functionality and performance issues and to support critical systems
