What is the role?
AMP Robotics is looking for an experienced hardware technician to join our growing Robotics Hardware Team. You will help build and install the physical support structure, safety devices, electronics, manipulation system, and robots for the recycling industry. Your primary responsibility will be to design and build structures, mechanical devices, and wiring harnesses to adapt robots for specific installation locations and evolving needs. You will be based our of AMP’s main office, and travel frequently to install and maintain systems at customer sites. This is cutting edge development in the world of industrial robotics so you should enjoy being experimental, be ready to rapidly iterate, and have the know-how to build reliable and repeatable systems.
In the first few months, you will:
Work directly on AMP’s robot installations, to learn their design philosophies, features, and functionality.
Upgrade existing systems with new hardware for improved reliability.
Build out, test, and install new systems for new customers.
In the longer term, you will:
Identify areas of improvement in the design and installation of the robot, and implement design and procedure changes.
Train and mentor new members of the Robotics Hardware Team.
Experiment with completely new technologies and capabilities in AMP’s controlled lab environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
A strong technical hardware background and practical experience.
Familiarity with mechanical drawings and CAD software.
Imaginative and open mind for problem solving.
Personable demeanor for interacting with clients.
Competency with standard office computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with electrical wiring, manufacturing techniques, and on-site assembly and installation of mechanical systems.
Proficiency with CAD systems, creating and interpreting technical drawings.
Experience with robot firmware - e.g. RAPID, ACE, Ladder Logic
A portfolio of past work and ability to show and explain projects.
Excitement about robotics, artificial intelligence, and recycling.
