The Research & Development team at DigitalGlobe is seeking candidates to help us in building state of the art image processing and computer vision algorithms and systems to harness the content of our massive petabyte scale imagery archive. We work on a wide variety of topics ranging from deep learning to massive cloud enabled image processing applications, all with the goal of helping to understand our changing planet. The Research and Development organization designs, devises, and implements new prototype algorithms at a rapid pace. The R&D software developer will help develop these prototypes and proof-of-concepts into robust, scalable, and performant alpha and beta products and systems.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, design, develop, implement, and improve state-of-the-art software in collaboration with a team of software developers, software testers and system engineers.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and articulate technical concepts and ideas effectively.
- Ensure sound software development processes that are heavily test and user driven.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2 years of programming experience (e.g. Python, C/C++, Go), especially in the context of scientific computing, and the desire to keep growing those skills.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in applied mathematics and computer science.
- Desired background: Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with satellite imagery and the related GIS libraries (GDAL, GEOS) and AWS services.
- The ability to start with an idea and transform it into a production application.
- Must be able to work within agile, collaborative team environment.
