Radiation Engineer Associate - Space Avionics - Design Assurance
Ball Aerospace’s Electrical Solutions team is seeking an Associate Engineer – Radiation Effects to work with Design Assurance teams in the selection, evaluation, analysis and documentation of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) parts.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform Radiation Engineering functions on complex programs using proven industry techniques and principles.
- Perform radiation analysis for in-house electronics:
- Maintain Program Approved Parts Lists (PAPL’s)
- Perform Total Ionization Dose (TID), Single Event Effects (SEE), and Displacement Damage Dose (DDD) analysis
- Lead and support TID/SEE/DDD radiation test campaigns
- Create Statements of Work (SOW’s) to meet program radiation requirements
- Lead Parts Control Board (PCB) radiation discussions with customers
- Leverage and maximize company standard parts library usage across programs and product class.
- Work closely with circuit-design teams and system-level teams to determine radiation impacts and ensure compliance to program radiation requirements.
- Assist Design Engineering and Supply Chain Management with part and vendor selections.
- Write and present reports documenting analysis results and anomaly results.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e. Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience in working with details, completing tasks at or under budget, and staying self-motivated and energetic in completing assignments.
- Knowledge of semiconductor physics and radiation effects on electronics is preferred.
- Knowledge of test board design, test facilities and data analysis is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
- Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $69,500 - $86,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
