Guild is hiring a Quality Assurance Manager to help build out and manage the QA function within our organization. In this role, you will grow Guild’s QA team by hiring, mentoring, and working cross-functionally to build scalable, modern QA processes. This role will work across the entire technology organization to understand and drive quality initiatives related to the technical products and services we provide to our customers and internal teams. This position is responsible for upholding Guild’s agreed upon quality standards in order to ensure the highest quality software products.

Additionally, the QA Manager provides guidance on understanding business requirements and objectives relative to the functionality of Guild’s applications. This role evaluates and tests new or modified software to ensure it meets the requirement, establishes and maintains high quality standards and provides mentoring or guidance to direct reports as well as less experienced peers. 

The QA Manager will report to the VP of Engineering. 

Responsibilities

  • Building and leading a world-class team of Software Quality engineers from the ground up that will be responsible for testing and ensuring high quality across our technology products and systems
  • Working with product, design and engineering leadership to build our strategy for quality engineering, developing a roadmap and priorities for your team
  • When necessary, rolling up your sleeves and helping the team successfully verify and ensure systems are meeting requirements, or helping to dig in to solve a production defect
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for the QA team. Communicate cross-functionally to manage projects and initiatives to completion while ensuring timely resolution
  • Execute and maintain functional, regression, acceptance, and performance testing
  • Create automated testing and collaborate with engineering and DevOps to establish the necessary infrastructure to make this a reality
  • Report, track and help determine priorities for enhancements and bugs
  • Actively support/troubleshoot escalated issues from both internal and external customers

Qualifications

  • 5 years of industry experience, focused on software quality assurance,
  • 2 years of managing a successful QA team.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance concepts and methodologies with an emphasis on automation
  • Hands on experience with API, functional, compatibility, acceptance/smoke testing, ad-hoc/exploratory, database, regression, staging, installation and multi-platform testing,
  • Extensive experience using issue tracking systems and test case management tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, early stage startup environment 
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, including the ability to solve complex problems in the face of time pressure and information/resource constraints
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, early stage startup environment
  • Ability to manage continuously changing business needs; excellent multi-tasking and time management skills required
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

Helpful for Success:

  • Strong expertise in industry leading software quality tools & process (both functional and performance)
  • Working knowledge of Amazon Cloud Architecture and its services
  • Testing experience in security, mobile products and cloud-based applications
  • Experience in writing scripts, mark-up text, and SQL.
