Junior Quality Assurance Engineer

 

The Junior Quality Assurance (JQA) evaluates and tests new and modified business software Pax8. The JQA authors software development and testing procedures which are required to verify that software applications function according to Business and technical requirements. Additionally, they will insure that these applications conform to establishment programming guidelines. The JQA authors, revises, and verifies quality standards and testing procedures. The core purpose of this position is to insure that quality, defect free business applications are maintained efficiently as possible. The JQA collaborates with project stakeholders, qa engineers, and developers as part of the software development life cycle to produce quality products and services. In addition, they will verify, reproduce, communicate, and track defects. They will participate in all phases of testing, including planning, development and the revision of project plans and scope. 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintain and prepare software test scripts
  • Participate in software requirements gathering sessions
  • Work with developers to understand the design and update the test scripts
  • Understand the impact of an issue on the overall application and enhance the test scripts
  • Maintain defect tracking and root cause analysis documents
  • Provide assistance with maintaining the user manuals
  • Identify risks and interdependencies prior to releases to minimize impact on daily business operations
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex problems independently
  • Isolate, replicate and report defects to the team
  • Other duties may be assigned 

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar field experience preferred (will consider business experience and individuals pursuing a degree)
  • Knowledge of defect tracking tools
  • Java and/or Python Automation
  • Selenium-Webdriver
  • CI Tools (Jenkins)
  • Knowledge of database management tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Preferred Skills

  • Backend and webservices testing (Restful API)
  • Gherkin/Cucumber-JVM
