QA Software Engineer
Wowza Media Systems is currently seeking a Software QA Engineer to work on legacy and new product initiatives while helping to drive product quality. The ideal candidate will have web services, web applications, and desktop applications testing experience.
Responsibilities:
Help ensure the delivery of high-quality software and services to our customers.
Active participant and test resource in the SDLC of any assigned product team.
Experience in web automation frameworks, such as selenium.
Experience testing and automating APIs.
Configure workflow environments with 3rd party applications, services, and devices.
Document, review and maintain test plans, test suites, and test cases in Testrail.
Enter, track and regress well-documented defects against wowza products.
Work with engineering, support and product teams to triage issues and assign appropriately.
Work with development engineers to understand and efficiently test software deliverables.
Actively identify testing coverage gaps and strive to continuously improve the overall testing approach.
Provide best practice QA methodologies throughout the software lifecycle.
Skills and Experience
At least 3-5 years QA experience in a development environment.
Broad-based knowledge of operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and OSX.
Practical knowledge of compiled and/or interpreted programming languages (e.g. Java, Ruby, bash).
Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
Comfortable executing tests via the command-line.
Experience developing, maintaining and/or using automation frameworks and tools (e.g. Selenium, page object model).
Understanding of the Agile development lifecycle and iteration-based development.
Superior communication and problem-solving skills along with a desire to continue to learn new technologies.
Nice to Have:
Some understanding of the streaming media industry.
Familiar with TestRail, a web-based test management application.
Background with CI/CD methodologies and tool sets.
Fluency with version control systems, such as git and github.
Familiar with system networking concepts and tools.
Experience with cloud-based computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Background with CircleCI, Docker and/or Kubernetes.
Experience with load and performance testing.
Familiar with ffmpeg and/or other video encoding software.
Understanding of streaming media protocols and technologies (e.g. HLS, MPEG-DASH, WebRTC, RTSP).
Knowledge of audio and video coding formats (e.g. AAC, MP3, H264, HEVC, VP9).
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of our salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. The salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
