The VictorOps team at Splunk is located in Boulder, CO. This team is made up of a strong mix of very talented and driven individuals, with a proven senior leadership team with a strong technical background. As a QA Engineer, you will work embedded in a cross-functional squad where collaborate with the product owner and your engineers to help deliver really cool software, fast. You will be responsible for helping to build and maintain manual test plans, test our web client and own the manual test initiative for your team. You will also be a strong advocate for quality throughout the company. And finally, you will collaborate with our support and success teams to understand odd user behavior to drive effective and meaningful exploratory testing efforts.

For this role, we are looking for someone with proven experience with manual and exploratory testing of web applications and someone who has passion to remain in the field of software quality assurance for the long haul. In addition, we offer plenty of learning opportunities as well as opportunities to evolve process to fit the needs of the business. Because we work within the DevOps community, a working knowledge of tools in the space would be a nice to have, but a willingness to learn about them is a must!

Please note, at this time we are exclusively looking for candidates with prior manual QA experience and a keen interest in remaining in the QA field.

To be successful, you will need good interpersonal skills, an eagerness to help our engineering teams achieve perfection, excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to be self-directed. In addition, they should be familiar with Agile practices, and be willing and eager to participate in every aspect of the software development life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and execute manual & exploratory test plans using Zephyr
  • Understand testing effort and communicate risks, concerns, and levels of test effort to your team
  • Work with your lead to prioritize and maintain detailed bug backlog using Jira
  • Analyze feature requirements, then verify quality of new features
  • Work as an important member of the larger Engineering team to ensure quality for our applications

Day-to-Day

  • Collaborate with your Engineering squad to help document creating new manual testing test plans as well as maintaining existing ones
  • Find, document, prioritize defects
  • Test and validate web client application
  • Vocalizing concerns around quality to the rest of your team

Qualifications:

  • Preference to applicants with a background in testing web applications for at least 2 years
  • Dedication to software quality for the long term
  • Knack for thinking like and having empathy for users
  • Excellent exploratory testing skills
  • Willingness to grow with your team, learn from and mentor others on QA methodologies
  • Highly driven and self-motivated, comfortable with autonomy but happy to work with a team
  • Strong verbal communication skills
