About the Role:

OrthoFi is searching for an experienced software development leader that has a passion for solving challenging problems as well as developing their people into better software engineers. We are expanding our product and development teams in 2018. As a Development Manager you will have the opportunity to teach, learn, contribute to diverse projects with challenging problems, and grow your own technical and professional skill sets.

As the Production Support Development Manager, you will be responsible for being the technical leader of a team of six to eight junior and mid-level developers that are dedicated to projects ranging from responding to internal and external client issues and bugs to product enhancement initiatives. As the Development Manager for the team, you will be expected to provide both technical and professional guidance to your direct reports.

OrthoFi is making a large investment in 2018 to make changes to our technical infrastructure and architecture. This position reports directly to OrthoFi’s Chief Technology Officer and will have an opportunity and responsibility to help shape OrthoFi’s technical directi:on for 2018 and beyond.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Be a strong leader and mentor to our junior and mid-level developers

    • Work with team members to develop a career path and conduct regular one-on-one discussions on their progress

  • Build a deep understanding of the code-base

  • Be a voice for the development organization as a whole in all future development strategies

  • Partner with our Director of Production Support to help understand and prioritize our client needs

  • Own and represent all development team responsibilities on the production support team including but not limited to:

    • Architecture decisions

    • Enforcing team coding standards / design patterns

    • Development work estimations

    • Task development, assignment, and progress tracking

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 1+ year(s) of development team people leadership

  • Comfortable providing and receiving direct and timely feedback

  • 2+ years experience scoping software projects, building out tasks, and providing development estimates

  • Full-stack development experience is required

    • Server-side: C# experience a plus

    • Client-side: AngularJS a plus (Angular 2+ a big plus)

  • Experience developing in common design patterns

  • Pair-programming experience a plus

  • TDD experience a plus

  • Thrives working with teams to solve complicated challenges
