POSITION SUMMARY:

 

We are looking for a driven, pragmatic, intelligent, well-spoken, tenacious Engineer with an affinity for problem solving and experience across multiple disciplines. The product development engineer will be responsible for design, fabrication and testing of laboratory instrumentation. This position is a key part of the Archer Engineering Team, requiring multi-discipline skills from technical to communication.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Rapid prototyping, manufacturing and assembly of complex devices
  • Development of instrumentation devices allowing for automation of complex biochemical workflows
  • Build components needed for testing through fabrication, laser welding, and manual assembly
  • Provide Continued Process Improvement of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Produce professional documentation and presentations on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to meet system level performance specs
  • Meeting deadlines and driving projects forward
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of relevant professional engineering experience
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks or OnShape
  • Strong analytical problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Fabrication process experience including 3D printing, machining, and injection molding

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Instrumentation development and testing
  • Experience working on cross-functional team with Scientists, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineers
  • Educational and work experience with mechanical design and molecular biology or analytical chemistry
  • Electro-mechanical assembly including fixture wiring and soldering
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting languages such as Python, R, Ruby, JavaScript or Matlab

EDUCATION:

  • B.S./M.S. in Biochemical, Chemical, Biomedical engineering, Chemistry, Physics or similar physical science or engineering disciplines
