Principal Network Security Engineer I
The Charter Technical Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO oversee s the design and architecture of Charter's multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. JOB SUMMARY
This role will assist/lead in design and implementation of several security constructs such as Voice, Video, Data, Cloud, Customer Premise Equipment, Core, Commercial, IT, and Wi-Fi Network and Access. This position has a strong mix of technical and business skills, and will often provide security requirements to other Engineering and Operational teams in order to set strategic direction for the company. Qualified candidates will be expected to possess strong technical aptitude in Automation, Virtual System Environments, Network and Data Center Infrastructure Architectures, and Security technologies.
Charter's Network Security Architecture team works closely with other Charter Engineering and Operational organizations, as well as a number of Industry bodies, providing design standards and guidance emphasizing cybersecurity best practices in their respective arenas. Primary business functions focus on retiring obsolete security models and addressing long standing operational pain points by institutionalizing scalable security solutions that promote adoption of agile deployment strategies, integration of new service architectures, and speed of delivery which align with overall cybersecurity programs across the different business partners. Additional responsibilities focus on evolving existing Core and Access infrastructure data and control plane security controls by improving upon our portfolio of mitigation capabilities, regulatory requirements, and service availability which align with acceptable risk levels.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience .
Designs, implements, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas.
Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
Tests and reviews system designs.
Provides Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met.
Mentors and guides the work of technical staff.
Reviews work plans and designs and advises on improvements.
Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
Knows, understands and follows company policy.
Performs other duties as requested by manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Required Education
Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Engineering work experience - 5-10
Project management work experience - 5-10

The pay for this position has a salary range of $110,800.00 to $196,400.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
