  • The Principal Technology Engineer uses his/her specialized knowledge to plan, design, develop and test new systems from product enhancements to new offerings. With a wide array of services, Vantiv needs to ensure that our products deliver a seamless and intuitive experience, which begins with thoughtful and smart engineering. He/she will be a passionate and informed individual, keeping on top of developments and trends in the payments processing environment to design intelligent systems that anticipate and beat the competition.

     

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    The Systems Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining availability and performance in mixed UNIX and Windows environment for non-production, and production environments. This individual works as part of a results-oriented, service-delivery team and assists configuration analysts, architectural system engineers, application developers, and all operational teams. Additionally, the Systems Engineer perform will perform root cause analysis of problems, incidents and automated deployment or management tools and actively participates in deeply technical discourse.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the design, planning and implementation of server solutions for management of multiple OS level systems
    • Manage Installations and configuration of HW platforms (HP, DELL, UCS)
    • Tune systems for maximum available performance
    • Design, Implement and Document technology solutions for VMWARE, AD, RHEL and other platforms.
    • Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment.
    • Evaluate, test, and integrate new operating system versions, drivers, and patches with all Business Units and operational teams
    • Provide technical analysis and incident resolution for all aspects as needed
    • Provide coordinated support to developers, operations staff, system engineers, release engineers, and end-users
    • Educate and mentor team members and operational staffs on developed and designed process
    • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support
    • Application support and administration for Ansible, Puppet, SCOM, VMWARE, AD and other mission critical applications

     

    Requirements

     

    • Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering and Operations
    • Linux Operating System (RedHat, Centos, Ubuntu) 5+ years of experience
      • Understanding and experience with low-latency, high-performance Linux environments
      • Horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability
      • Advanced Linux administration and engineering
      • Advanced Linux kernel and network tuning
    • Windows Active Directory (2012, 2016) 5+ years of experience
      • Domain Trust
      • Powershell
      • GPO Management
      • DNS
      • Certificate Authority
    • Vmware 5.5 and above
      • Vcenter Networking
      • vRealize
      • VSAN
    • Hardware Experience
      • HP DL Series
      • HP Blade Chassis
      • Dell R6x R7x Series
      • Cisco UCS Blades and Chassis

     

    • The ability to review and build automation and configuration management
    • Advanced scripting (any combination of Perl, Ruby, Bourne, Python, and others)
    • Automation tools (Puppet and Ansible)
    • Proficiency in Solaris
    • Top-tier analytics and problem solving
    • Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment
    • Project Management, organization, and time management
    • Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience
