About the team:

VIZIO’s SmartCast DevOps team is seeking a Principal Automation Engineer to join their growing team. The successful  candidate will be responsible for leading the day to day activities to ensure stability and reliability of the SmartCast properties including continuous improvement in overall operation stability through process redesign, automation and containerized; management of third party tools including cloud services; release coordination with core IT and Delivery teams; and production support.  This role will work closely to ensure the support of the solution delivery, development and testing teams for SmartCast.

 

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with Engineering leaders across the organization to capture feedback and synthesize into projects with tactical and strategic outcomes.
  • The candidate is expected to have a working understanding of data and messaging technologies like Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Elasticsearch.
  • Experience with configuration management and Infrastructure as code e.g.: Ansible, Chef, Terraform.
  • Working closely with internal partners and teams to ensure that services meet security, SLA, and performance requirements.
  • The role also involves cloud technologies - strong working experience in a public cloud (AWS is preferred) is essential.

About You:

  • 8+ year experience with software engineering, software development, or system operations
  • 5+ year experience with building test automation frameworks for devices or web-based applications.
  • BS/BA in Computer Science or similar field of study.
  • Excellent critical analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with Python, .NET, REST API, Postman, SQL or any other similar tools and languages.
  • Experience with system integration testing, end-to-end testing, databases, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Linux, Windows, and familiarity with commands.
  • Appreciates the challenge of translating highly technical product offerings and concepts for a wide variety of audiences, elucidating the “why”, not just the “what”.
