About the Role

NetApp is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our All Flash Array and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (NetApp HCI/AFA) storage development organization and manage our Performance Engineering team. NetApp HCI/AFA’s product includes a rapidly growing enterprise class data storage solution specifically designed for large scale, public and private cloud deployments. This is a great opportunity to work on a high-powered team delivering an industry changing product within an extremely high growth sector of the tech industry.

About the Team

 

Our Performance Engineering team is composed of Performance Analysts and Software Engineers along with a Test Engineer, Scrum Master and Product Owner.  The Performance Analysts define test requirements, analyze test results, determine root cause of performance drops, and drive performance improvements, etc. The Software Engineers focus on developing and maintaining Performance Test Automation. Our Test Engineer handles test execution and reporting along with system maintenance. 

 

We are currently seeking an experienced Agile Team Engineering Manager with a background in system performance to lead a cross functional team of talented performance minded engineers. Candidates must be proven technical leaders who can inspire and motivate. More specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Guide team in navigating and working within our Scaled Agile for Enterprises (SAFe) / DevOps framework
  • Help evolve and drive our organization wide Performance Strategy
  • Identify and drive process improvements
  • Work with Quality Team partners on release level activities
  • Set performance expectations for individual employees and monitor their success in meeting these goals

 

About You

 

As an Engineering Manager you must be a proven technical leader who can build, lead and motivate software teams. You will partner with product management, architects, business owners and the team to define the team’s roadmap. You will have a continuous improvement mentality and always be on the look out for ways to make things better across the company and within your own scope of responsibility.
 

You Have

 

  • 3+ years experience leading teams developing enterprise products in a high-growth, fast-paced system software engineering company
  • Experience building system level or SaaS products with a focus on Performance:  enterprise storage appliances are the perfect match but other industries could include networking, operating systems, security, telecommunications and database systems
  • Experience with Scaled Agile For Enterprises (SAFe), SCRUM, and DevOps
  • In depth knowledge of system software development in Linux, C or C++
  • 3+ years hands-on software development and/or performance analyst experience
  • Strong track record of hiring, growing and nurturing cohesive, high performing development teams
  • Effective multitasking skills, ability to work multiple projects and initiatives in parallel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
