Key Skills:

• Familiar with OWASP (OWASP Top 10, OWASP testing guide, etc).
• Ability to identify technologies used by an application and enumerate data input fields and parameters.
• Understands common application-specific exploits such as SQLi, XSS (stored vs reflected), CSRF, Session Hijacking, etc
• Understands application security best practices and can identify business logic issues such as weak authentication requirements and user enumeration weaknesses.
• Understands how a web proxy works and knows how to use proxy tools for web application testing such as OWASP, ZAP or Burp Suite.
• Scripting abilities in one or more languages (bash, python, php, ruby…)

Secondary Skills:

• Knowledge of application components such as front-end and back-end frameworks and languages along with database technologies, and how they all inter-connect
• Able to articulate what good application architecture looks like.
• Solid understanding of Web App infrastructure (example: secure web server configuration)
• Understands the difference between SQL and NoSQL database types (mysql vs mongo).
• Ability to debug web applications
• Familiar with data types like XML and JSON.
• Understands API and Web Services such as REST and SOAP

Job Qualifications:

• A four-year degree, preferably in computer science or a related field
• Two to five years of hands-on system administration or system engineering experience
• Technical certifications such as OSCP, OSCE, OSWE, GPEN, CISSP, CSSLP are considered a plus
• Interest in learning new skills and keeping pace with changing technologies
• Ability to problem solve and work with others to find the best solution
