About Urban Sky:

Urban Sky is revolutionizing the earth observation industry. We're a small, venture-backed stealth startup based in Denver, CO that's pioneering an entirely new category of high-altitude vehicle called the 'micro-balloon.' Our small, reusable high-altitude balloons will allow for frequent and low-cost, high-resolution, 'snapshot' remote sensing of economic activity around the world. We're a small team of experts in high-altitude flight technology and earth observation and are looking to build the next chapter of stratospheric history right here in Denver. About the Role:

Above all else, we're looking for passionate, curious, hard-working people. But our immediate need is for a part-time mechanical or aerospace engineer to help with general fabrication, assembly, design and documentation. Ideally, you'd be interested in ~16-24 hours of work per week (but we're flexible regarding hours). In short, we're looking for someone with 0-3 years of experience that can help design, document, fabricate, and assemble technology suitable for stratospheric flight. 3D printing, SolidWorks, and applicable space-related hardware and flight project experience would be a huge plus. You'll be supporting Urban Sky's Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer as an all-purpose engineer, and you'll be proud to see flight hardware you helped build sailing in the stratosphere on a regular basis.

We're a scrappy, lean, small team (so don't expect corporate bureaucracy, lots of oversight, and fancy offices), but that's also what makes us unique at this stage of growth. We're an experienced entrepreneurial team that knows how to build and grow companies and technology and we can teach you loads about early stage startups. Not to mention, if things go well with the part-time role, we'd certainly be interested in exploring your transition to a full-time role down the road, where there will be ample room for growth and career advancement.

Desired:

• 0-3 years of experience in a mechanical, aeronautical or aerospace engineering role. 
• BS in aerospace, aeronautical, or mechanical engineering (not required given the right work experience, but a major plus). 
• Ample fabrication and assembly experience, with machinist and/or tooling experience a big plus. 
• Engineering design expertise (basic working knowledge of SolidWorks.) 
• An understanding of basic engineering and systems documentation processes. 
• A 'roll-up-your-sleeves' attitude with an unrelenting curiosity to digest and solve fun problems. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, unstructured and highly entrepreneurial environment. 
• An effective communicator that understands that failure and mistakes are part of building innovative new things, and someone that isn't afraid to ask for help when needed.
