Mgr - Software Engineering 1
Software Development Mgmt: Directs the activities of a software systems development function, software applications development function, and a software quality assurance function for software enhancements and new products. Most companies should be able to match to a specific software development management position. Use this position if company does not breakout software development positions such as Software Engineering (Applications) Mgmt (2142-2146) or Software Engineering (Systems) Mgmt (2162-2166). Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel or external legal firms to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.- A clear understanding of the product development cycle, technical requirements and project management.- A strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices.- Experience in software development.- A demonstrated ability to function successfully as a team leader, and desire to develop in a manager role.Management and Interaction:Management: - This position is responsible for supervising/managing multiple tasks and multiple groups within a function.- The focus of this role is on implementing and control.- The potential impact of decisions made by this individual will be mostly operational.- This individual will apply attained experience and knowledge to address issues that are moderate in scope, and where analysis of the situation or of data requires a review of relevant factors. Interaction: - This individual must work effectively with staff to director level employees mainly within own function, however, will also sometimes work with employees in other functions and outside of direct area of responsibility. - Utilizes people skills and available manager tools to help subordinates develop within their role and career; and builds an environment that supports cooperation and cohesiveness. - This individual must demonstrate favorable results through providing leadership to staff through mentoring, coordinating and advising.
BS/BA degree or equivalent related experience. 6+ years -- plus add additional experience requirements needed if you were to fill an open requisition, i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities.
