Boom is looking for an experienced technician to work in the Materials and Process team. The responsibilities include:

Perform thermal and mechanical testing and data analysis on a variety of structures using MTS mechanical testing workstation with environmental/thermal chambers

Manipulate and plot data using computer software (e.g excel)

With the team, implement and trouble-shoot experimental diagnostics including but not limited to: strain gauges, load cells, thermal chamber, high-speed cameras, ovens, thermocouples, pressure systems, etc.

With other team members, design fixtures and develop procedures for thermal and mechanical testing

Validate methods, troubleshoot and repair instrumentation

Organize data and provide summaries to engineering team.

Interface with other teams on common projects and analysis

Prepare test samples including but not limited to cutting, machining, drilling, etc.

Maintaining a well-organized and safe testing area, complying with all relevant requirements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience, 5+ preferred.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or other 3D CAD package(s) and associated PDM systems is a plus
  • Project management experience including reporting frequently on progress
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Meticulous attention to detail
