The Web Development Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Web Development team. The team consists of full stack engineers creating City and County websites built on our in-house CMS. The team works closely with UX Design, QA, Project Management, and Implementation resources. As their manager, you'll confidently lead and promote a high-performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, productivity, and goal attainment. You'll also interface with our Product team – gaining full exposure and high influence across the Products, Processes, and People that make our CMS offering the best in class. Candidates must bring a consultative approach and a "whatever it takes" attitude to ensure client success.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide insight to UX Designers and Project Managers about platform requirements and limitations
  • Provide leadership in designing and delivering processes while ensuring alignment to good development practices
  • Responsible for static and dynamic HTML programming and scripted document conversion and content migration with a focus on front end
  • Manage, motivate, mentor and encourage direct reports
  • Build HTML pages based on technical specification documents (Adobe XD)
  • Convert/slice graphic designs (Photoshop/PSD's) into HTML format (with CSS & JS)
  • Integration of HTML slices into an in-house CMS (Content Management System)
  • Enhance and maintain the dev. operations design system
  • Leads the development and QA teams throughout the entire HTML integration lifecycle, from project initiation towards delivery, with a focus on quality
  • Manage a backlog ensuring timely completion of tasks assigned to you and others
  • Follow standards and maintain documentations
  • Develop and maintain any approved CMS customizations
  • Work within project teams, adhering to strict timeframes and budgets

Who You are:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience of full-time and professional front end development with responsive design
  • Atleast 1 year of experience managing, leading and coaching a team of developers
  • Highly proficient with modern CSS and HTML techniques and strategies while maintaining cross-browser compatibility
  • Produces sites from supplied XD or PSD files into final site's CMS using standardized HTML5 markup and CSS3 definitions and structures
  • Knowledge of CSS preprocessors such as LESS/SASS
  • Strong background in vanilla JavaScript is preferred, experience with certain frameworks or libraries (AngularJS, jQuery) is a plus
  • Familiarity with ASP.NET Core and Razor syntax
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Team Foundation Server and Source Safe is a plus
  • Knowledge of relational databases, MS-SQL is a plus
  • Proven experience building and leading cohesive teams where each member takes accountability and is empowered to do exceptional work
  • Strong leadership skills to ensure the team is comprised of highly motivated, appropriately trained, well-informed individuals who each understand his/her responsibilities, and how those responsibilities affect the team and the business as a whole
  • Have the ability to optimize limited resources creatively during unforeseen business critical situations to ensure ongoing and uninterrupted service to customers
  • Excellent stress management. Can work under pressure without compromising professionalism and maintaining sound decision making skills and productivity
  • Continually re-think processes to improve workflow in own department and cross functionally
  • Familiarity with Web Accessibility Standards Section 508/WCAG 2.0 is a plus
