What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading and contributing to a team of 5-6 of experienced software engineers working to develop highly performant REST services serving hundreds of millions of daily requests
• Adding new features in our web services API or debugging and fixing a race condition that is causing cache corruption
• We like to use the right tools for the job, so you'll be working with some of the latest technologies along with some tried and true technologies like: React.js, Webpack, Java and Oracle
• Working closely with product management to ensure effective feature delivery, roadmap development, realistic estimates, and timely updates on progress
• Mentoring & pairing with junior & senior developers, and finding ways to challenge them in their work
• Engaging with other team leaders to ensure teams work collaboratively and that the overall effectiveness, efficiencies, and consistency of all engineering teams improves

What You Bring To The Table

• 7+ years of experience in the software industry
• 2+ years of people management experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Broad expertise in languages, frameworks and overall software architecture
• Fluency in Java, Clojure, or another server side language like C#
• Familiarity with messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ
• Proven ability to successfully grow, lead, and mentor engineering teams
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies, continuous integration, and test-driven development
• Skilled at finding consensus among groups of strong-willed individuals and ability to influence others outside your direct reports (cat herding)
• Experience working with distributed teams (preferred)
• BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering or other related degree, or relevant industry experience
