Manager, Front-End Engineering at Zayo

This position will be responsible for all oversight of front-end development, including assisting in setting strategy and vision for technology, process, people, and culture. The Manager, Front-End Engineering will technically lead the front-end engineering team and work closely with the architecture and microservice development teams to build highly scalable, performant, and secure applications utilizing the latest technologies and practices to deliver an exceptional and effortless user experience.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience and Qualifications
Expert knowledge and understanding of:
Front-end frameworks including Angular and React.
CSS organization, cascade, and inheritance schemes meant to make scaling and support easy.
Linting, compilation, minification, dependency/package management, build systems.
Optimal file structure and module organization for re-usability, consistency, componentization and minimal coupling.
Web security best practices as defined in OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project).
Demonstrated ability to:
Lead development teams technically and mangerially.
Maintain technical ownership of front-end development, including technical decision making, technology evaluation, code and process governance, while seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.
Work effectively and collaboratively with development teams, development support teams, and stakeholders.
Lead React.js migration effort, evolving a component library strategy and implementation across our applications.
Develop and execute strategy for building performance minded development culture.
Build, maintain, document, and enforce coding patterns, standards and linting.
Observe & communicate with stakeholders, project managers and technical teams to determine evolving system needs.
Evaluate current development stack to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices and keep development stack from becoming obsolete through regular evaluation, version updates, and possibly framework changes.
Identify areas of suboptimal design in the system and formulate new designs and solutions to solve critical system issues.
Maintain system wide consistency for UI/UX interaction, developing standards for organizing and building pattern libraries and working closely with design and development teams.
Manage front-end development team(s), set strategy and vision for front-end engineering, and manage talent strategy, team growth, and career progression for the team.
Lead technical aspects of projects, including providing technical direction to other developers, identify gaps in requirements, effectively communicate gaps, and meet project goals and deadlines.
Base salary range: $100,344-$108,871
