Job Description

Installs, configures, and maintains the organization’s operating systems, server hardware, and storage hardware. Responsible for maintaining good health on all assigned environments. Analyzes and resolves problems efficiently and effectively. Provides input on technical direction and completes assigned tasks in a timely manner. Works equally well independently and in project team environments. Must be an excellent troubleshooter using experience, resources, initiative and tools to analyze and correct issues in an efficient and expedited manner whilst taking care not to disrupt other services and installations. Internally motivated to seek to solve problems at the root level and automate processes where possible.

  • Performs installation / configuration / administration of both Linux and Microsoft operating systems
  • Administration of server platforms for physical / virtual / cloud machines
  • Automating the configuration and security of the environment through scripting
  • Migrating workloads to public cloud as necessary
  • Management of data center storage (SAN & NAS)
  • Evaluates, designs, deploys, and maintains highly available and reliable infrastructure services
  • Must be able, with limited supervision, to design, plan, procure, install, configure and support a variety of systems and services as required in corporate environment
  • Stay current with modern infrastructure and operations trends and technologies and is able to advise on architecture, standards, and planning infrastructure future roadmaps
  • Creates and maintains documentation on existing and new systems and configurations
  • Interact with vendors (software, hardware, and telecommunications providers) to develop and implement service improvements
  • Monitor system performance and perform system tuning as necessary
  • Assists in maintaining overall environment security and auditability
  • Serve as knowledge and subject matter expert in areas of expertise
  • Assist with training and mentoring of junior staff
  • Provides backup capabilities to other key roles in the team as needed

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a corporate IT environment providing system administration and support
  • 5+ years of experience and expertise with deploying and maintaining Linux in an enterprise required
  • 4+ years administering production virtual environments
  • Some experience with Windows server administration and MS Enterprise applications: Windows Server, AD, MS SQL, Exchange, O365 would be a plus
  • 2+ years of enterprise SAN/NAS administration required, experience with NetApp would be a plus
  • Experience with scripting and the automation of system configurations required (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform)
  • Strong desire to acquire and master new skills
  • Cloud experience (Azure or AWS) would be a plus
  • Good working knowledge of DNS and DHCP required
  • Good working knowledge of networking required. Experience administering network equipment (switches/routers/firewalls) would be a plus
  • A self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment is an absolute requirement
  • Project leadership abilities and experience is a plus. Ability to prioritize tasks and users with a strong sense of customer service
  • Database knowledge and experience would be a plus (MySql / MS SQL / Oracle)
  • Experience with installing software releases, firmware, system upgrades and patches
  • Adheres to policies and procedures of Vendavo Inc and also those of the IT Infrastructure team
  • Bachelor’s degree, Engineering degree or equivalent work experience
  • Industry technical certifications a definite plus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, strong communicator
