About the Role
OrthoFi is looking for an experienced software engineer leader that has a passion for solving challenging problems through collaboration and innovation. You will have the opportunity to teach, learn, contribute to diverse projects with challenging problems, and grow your own technical and professional skill sets.
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will interact daily with both OrthoFi's technical leadership as well as with your project team to drive solutions to complex business and technical problems. You will act as the technical and managerial lead for your project team providing technical and professional direction to your team of developers, as well as partner with your project's product team to help guide feature decisions and effort estimations.
As a leader on the development team, you will also report directly to OrthoFi's Director of Engineering and you will have an opportunity and responsibility to help shape OrthoFi's technical direction for our current state and beyond.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Be a strong software engineer both in practice and guidance to your team members
  • Create strategy for ensuring quality based on the risk profile of the team/domain/project.
  • Design new multi-tiered distributed architectures that are available and scalable while defining an implementation plan.
  • Direct leadership responsibilities for a scrum team of engineers; including career development, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Conduct one-on-ones for the developers on your project team on a regular basis.
  • Accountable for the quality and timelines of solution delivery for his or her scrum teams
  • Accountable for architecture decisions for their teams' projects and solutions
  • Collaborative partnership with product managers, acting as the main conduit between product and development for his or her scrum teams
  • Be a voice for the development organization as a whole in all future development strategies
  • Take accountability for all technical decisions in collaboration with the team including, but not limited to:
  • Architecture decisions
  • Enforcing team coding standards / design patterns
  • Development work estimations
  • Task development, assignment, and progress tracking


Desired Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of development team people leadership.
  • Comfortable providing and receiving direct and timely feedback.
  • 5+ years experience scoping software projects, building out tasks, and providing development estimates.
  • Full-stack development experience is required:
  • Server-side: C#, NodeJS
  • Infrastructure: AWS, including Lamba Serverless
  • Client-side: JavaScript (Angular 2+, React)
  • Database: SQL Server
  • Experience developing in common design patterns:
  • MVC
  • Dependency Injection
  • Factory Pattern
  • Pair-programming experience a plus.
  • TDD experience a plus.
  • Thrives working with teams to solve complicated challenges.

Compensation: $155,000K - $165,000K
**Please note that the above compensation information is a good faith estimate for Colorado-based hires only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules.**
