Sr. OSS Developer – Performance Management

Position Description
The Sr. OSS Developer – Performance Management is responsible for strategic domain system architecture direction, project prioritization, and overall team development supporting automation, correlation, inventory, ticketing, and network triage features and systems. The Sr. OSS Developer will work their domain group and NCC to define, analyze, design, develop, test, and support features with the goal of automating value add business processes. Our mission is to provide the Global Network Operations and Product Groups with innovative process and systems support to drive operational capability, efficiency, quality, and scalability to surpass our customer’s expectations at the lowest possible cost.
Responsibilities
- Uses business operations experience and knowledge to assist management in setting domain and organizational strategic system direction.
- Coach and train domain developers according to best practices with a goal of creating business value.
- Define solution objectives by analyzing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality.
- Design and develop user interfaces by setting expectations and feature priorities throughout development life cycle. Determine design methodologies and tool sets, complete programming using languages and software products and design and conduct tests.
- Recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives.
- Integrate applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers.
- Complete applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities. Contribute to team meetings and troubleshoot development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
- Support users by developing documentation and assistance tools.
- Be a full stack development expert, with emphasis on business and database tier development in the LAMP, LAPP or MEAN environments.
- Increase job knowledge by researching new technologies and software products, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
- Support and develop OSS Developers by providing advice, coaching, and educational opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Computer Science and/or an equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of experience.
- Full-stack development experience, including architecting and implementing their own systems.
- Working knowledge of network performance monitoring, with familiarity with any of the following platforms: MRTG, Solarwinds, CA Performance, Cacti, RANCID, or Splunk.
- Programming and scripting experience with some of the following: Linux/Unix, Perl, Python, shell scripting, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Groovy, SOAP/XML, and REST.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols: IP Networking, UDP/TCP, subnetting, DNS, SSL, HTTP(S), SSH, Netflow.
- Solid understanding of network monitoring protocols: SNMP, Syslog, and TL1.
