Job Duties and Responsibilities
As part of the DISH Wireless System Integration Team, this LeadOperations Engineer will join the team of passionate engineers with start-up spirit to deploy and debug DISH's standalone 5G network. This team focuses on the deployment of our IMS Core powered by Nokia and Mavenir. This team is a team working in a live production environment, utilizing CI/CD operations in order to test, debug, and deploy solutions live. This position will contribute to ongoing process improvement reviews, identifying areas for automation and overall efficiency improvements to help increase service up-time and overall customer experience. Day-to-day job responsibilities:
- Work with the Technology Development team and vendors to develop and utilize operation plans based on design solutions of the network functions in an AWS cloud-native network environment.
- Lead and perform the daily maintenance and operation of Dish national 5G SA core and IMS network. This includes activities such as upgrade, backup, troubleshooting 5G and IMS operation problems, isolating issues to relevant NFs, raising defect tickets to appropriate vendors, appling and verifying software fixes.
- Develop requirements and guidelines for proactive capacity management on various platforms for performance monitoring, as well as capping guidelines for router platforms.
- Monitor and interpret the KPI metrics; Develop and implement remediation and improvement plans.
- Work collaboratively in a fast paced environment with NOCoE and external vendors, providing 3rd tier support for 5G core and IMS network service issues.

- Develop and implement Method of Procedure (MOP), using standard Dish Wireless operational templates for a Production rollout.
- Create and maintain detailed lab and production environment documentation/drawings
- Lead other engineers within the team to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the networks in various functional areas.
- Ability to execute under specified deliverables timelines.
Work during off hours when required.

Skills, Experience and Requirements
The ideal Lead IMS Operations Engineer will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications or technical degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of highly related experience and education.
- 6+ years of experience in software and testing automation.
- 5G technical background in Packet Core.
- Extensive knowledge on 3GPP IMS call flows.
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP networking and familiarity with TCP, UDP, SCTP, GTP, RADIUS, Mobile IP, SIP, Diameter protocols, and 5G interfaces.
- Working knowledge of virtualized 3GPP Mobile Packet Core Network.
- Experience in Spirent, Keysight (IXIA) is preferred.
- Working knowledge in a Cloud Native environment, with technologies such as AWS, OpenStack, VMWare, KVM or EKS.
- Familiarity with containers and relevant technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker or Openshift.
- Experience with Python scripting or any other scripting language (bash, Tcl).
- Knowledge of Protocol Analysis, Wireshark, NetScout, RADCOM or other similar tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter, capable of working independently, innovative and eager to learn state-of-the art technologies.
Salary Range
Compensation: $115,500.00/Year - $189,750.00/Year
