A Brief Overview
A FirstBank Jr Test Automation Developer (Test Automation Associate Analyst) is responsible for supporting the design, automation, and maintenance of test scripts to ensure automation aligns with testing initiatives and continuous integration. In this position, you will work within a fast-paced, highly collaborative agile Software Delivery Team testing packaged application configuration and customization as well as internally developed software. While working closely within and across teams, you will ensure quality standards are met and performance improvements are made, and will support existing automation frameworks and related best practices. You will document and perform manual testing where applicable while ensuring that automation is developed as early and often as possible.
What you will do
- Responsible for developing API test automation and executing manual testing where automated testing is not feasible
- Test API software efforts from analysis through implementation
- Design, automate, maintain and debug test scripts
- Drive risk-based testing conversations between business sponsors and developers
- Participate in testing, analysis, and communication of results
- Help reconcile business and technical requirements through use of current methods and practices
- Ensure best practices and standards are followed and maintain and oversee proper documentation
- Work under supervision; communicate with management on the status of tasks and projects and initiate requests to escalate problems when needed
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
- Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- A combination of post-high school education, job related certification, and related experience equivalent to 3 years may be considered in lieu of a degree
Preferred Requirements
- Foundation level Software Testing Certification (i.e. ISTQB)
- Experience working with Packaged Applications
- Experience working with loan-related software applications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic forms of testing, including: Functional, System, Integration, Regression, Exploratory, Negative, Smoke
- Some experience with scripting languages using Java, C#, or related languages/technologies
- Some experience testing and automating APIs, including REST and SOAP Services
- Some experience with test management and test automation tools, or other related software testing tools
- Some experience working in an agile software development environment
- Knowledge of Integrated Development Environments (IDE)
- Knowledge of source repositories, such as GitHub
- Some experience with SQL and general knowledge of RDBMS concepts
- Understanding of the difference and purpose of both GUI and API testing
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong technical and operational problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong ability to work in a team oriented environment
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
- Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer

- Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
- Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
