Industrial Engineer
At Ball Aerospace’s Westminster Colorado location, we develop and manufacture state of the art RF & sensor technologies that are integrated onto tactical missile and aircraft platforms. This is an incredible opportunity for a recent graduate, preferably with an Industrial Engineering degree focused on Systems and/or Supply Chain, to support the production of advanced RF products. Additionally, this role serves as the jumping off point to other exciting career opportunities at Ball Aerospace which includes Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Operations, Operations Management, or Value Stream Manger just to name a few!
This is a challenging and dynamic role responsible for manufacturing planning and production, material availability, material and product flow, capacity and bottleneck resolution, as well as improvement efforts that drive our operational strategy. This opportunity requires a result driven individual with strong organizational skills, ability to thrive in a team environment, and a passion for continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do:
- Identify, plan, and drive the sequential assembly operations required to execute the product lifecycle.
- Review engineering drawings to identify parts, materials, and tooling necessary to successfully execute each assembly operation.
- Write and/or maintain manufacturing development work requests, configuration requirements, and material traceability documentation.
- Anticipate material/part shortages or delays and expedite as required to eliminate project schedule impacts.
- Work internal or external supplier material issues.
- Provide material and manufacturing status reports.
- Effectively work in a cross-functional team environment.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and/or external customers.
- Maintain strict adherence to business process and government compliance.
- Develop and implement systems and improvement strategies for direct material flow (in plant transport, inventory staging/access, and assembly line supply) including capacity and bottleneck resolution.
- Evaluate process improvements for operations (labor balancing, time studies, picking, kitting, packing and loading, line-side storage setup, and product sequencing) to minimize downtime and rework.
- Coordinate equipment / process changes related to materials picking, packaging, storage, transport, delivery, line-side use, returns, and any other material related issues to support all assembly lines.
- Provide support to warehouse, materials, or production area managers with kaizens, JIT projects, and shop floor management activities to achieve task reductions as assigned.
- Perform various analysis of the value stream ensuring proper layouts, material flows, and available capacity enabling successful program execution.
- Maintain an intense focus and continuous presence where the work is performed. Take daily Gemba walks, go and see to gather the facts, and develop a deep and thorough understanding of the process.
- Be accountable, drive accountability within the organization, and put problems first with a sense of urgency.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Effective communication skills.

- Excellent demonstrated organizational skills and a focus on timely delivery of specified deliverables’ goals and objectives.

- A problem-solving endurance that persists in the wake of initial setbacks.
Working Conditions:

- Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $78,000 - $97,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
