Alteryx is searching for a Group Manager, Quality Engineer in our Broomfield, CO office once it reopens.

Position Overview:

Come join our Quality Engineering team and play a key role in driving a world-class experience for Alteryx’ customers through quality in Product Engineering. This mission of this senior leadership role is to deliver exceptional customer experience by leading our quality engineering organization. This role will enhance customer trust and manage risk throughout the product development lifecycle by leading teams to deliver quality services (frameworks, tooling, advisory) to engineering and conduct integration, customer and system test. The above will be accomplished by fostering a culture of passion and mastery of the craft of modern quality software development.

Required Skills:

  • Provide leadership for our Product Engineering quality organization including quality strategy, architects, quality program, SETI (Software Engineer, Tools and Infrastructure) and our system test team (SDET’s and QE’s).

  • Develop and execute a holistic Product Engineering quality strategy and roadmap with quality leaders, architects, and team members. 

  • Orchestrate delivery of quality architecture, frameworks, tools, guidance, customer journey testing and system test through the leaders of those respective areas.

  • Sponsor an initiative to establish an enterprise-class test suite for all Alteryx products employing automation where appropriate.

  • Manage our quality analytics program including the evolution of capabilities and use of quality analytics in driving decisions and action.

  • Lead others in implementing product-specific test strategies including working with leaders across engineering.

  • Build relationships as a trusted peer across Product Engineering and with partner organizations such as Customer Success to establish broad support for quality efforts and to address stakeholder needs.

  • Leverage your product and engineering experience to mature the quality capability through the operationalization of leading practices, principles, technology, and metrics in a process of continual improvement.

  • Create and own a quality talent management plan including hiring and developing employees towards their potential.

  • Establish solid employee experience, team performance, learning, diversity and inclusion through active and visible leadership.

  • Drive testing framework and tooling strategy to support Alteryx products.

  • Participate in architectural design forums to ensure non-functional system considerations are incorporated and fully testable.

  • Consult with technical leads across engineering to review software component interfaces and capture framework capability requirements.

  • Advise the Product Engineering team to provide software improvement recommendations and highlighting risk areas.

  • Lead the development of robust and scalable CI/CD pipelines to ensure only the highest quality software is released.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in agile-lean software delivery including, providing domain specific knowledge and best practices across Engineering (katas, training, demos).

  • Model Alteryx values and stunning colleague attributes.

  • Act as a customer advocate, committed to delivering quality throughout the company.

The Experience You Bring:

  • 10+ years’ experience as a technology leader including experience managing managers and leading a total team of 30+ direct reports.

  • Demonstrated servant leadership.

  • Data-driven management including experience cascading and managing through outcomes (OKR’s or similar goal approaches).

  • Influencing without authority with a variety of stakeholders to achieve goals.

  • Experience at least 2-3 of the following: full lifecycle software engineering, platform, cloud, software performance engineering, integration engineering and/or software quality engineering experience.

  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall product and software development lifecycles.

  • Leading a department on their DevOps/agile journey or other transformations.

  • Leading team(s) to design and develop reliable testing frameworks that enable full coverage and execute within a CI/CD pipeline.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Vendor management experience.

  • Systems engineering experience particularly for complex systems, integration, and verification/validation

  • Scalable testing technologies, including Jest, TypeScript, Pytest or similar.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with JavaScript or Python and web driver libraries, utilizing standard patterns to develop complex methods with measurable outcomes.

  • Experience as a Software Engineer or a developer.

  • Data analytics experience: Python, R, Alteryx.

  • Data Science: ML and/or AI modeling.

Compensation:

Alteryx is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role in Broomfield, CO is $117,000 – 198,900. This position is also remote-friendly and, as such, compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including bonus and stock grants.
