Better requires process, discipline, and simplification

As a Group Leader, Cyber Defense Engineering you will serve as a member of the Western Union Cyber Defenses leadership team. You will be responsible to oversee the planning, selection, and implementation of Cyber Security technologies in the Western Union environment. You will use the NIST and MITTRE attack framework to measure maturity of their service offerings and continuously enhance them, and lead a global team of engineers focused on delivering protection use cases to the 24/7 Cyber Fusion Center. The ideal Cyber Defense Leader will bring significant experience transforming and overseeing security engineering teams. 

The Group Leader, Cyber Defense Engineering role will be reporting to our Head of Cyber Defense, and will oversee a team of 20-25. You will build and manage a global cybersecurity team to implement and maintain an appropriate program in coordination with other Western Union technology leaders as well as our broader global cybersecurity team. For this leadership role, we’ll look to you to bring experience with a broad range of security technologies including, Web Application Firewalls, Distributed Denial of Service protection, Intrusion Prevention, Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Antivirus (AV), and Cloud Security Access Brokers (CASB). You’ll have experience with mapping technology stacks against industry frameworks (NIST, MITRE, CIS Critical Security Controls, etc), and with applying security controls in cloud environments, specifically AWS, GCP, or Oracle Cloud.

The target base range is expected to be from 180-230k, plus short-term (20% of base), and long-term (20% of base) incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary and are based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Salary is one component of the Western Union total compensation package, which includes short-term incentives, multiple health insurance options, accident and life insurance, flexible time off, and access tobest-in-class development platforms, to name a few!
