Position Description
GIS Support analysts will be expected to learn quickly and work hard, contributing to the real progress of our enterprise system development. We will provide direct mentoring to guide you, but expect you to quickly be productive.
Responsibilities:
Esri’s ArcGIS suite of products makes up the core of Zayo’s enterprise GIS solutions. This GIS ecosystem along with
Salesforce.com and other fiber management tools are core to Zayo’s architecture and fundamentally supports the company’s overall business strategy.
- GIS Support Analyst will be responsible for assisting with building our cutting edge fiber planning and visualization systems using both Open Source and Esri technologies in accordance with customer requirements.
- Develop training plans for all custom solutions by coordinating with subject matter experts to ensure continuity of business needs throughout the deployment.
- Perform testing on all enhancements and bug fixes to ensure the best possible user experience.
- Provide helpdesk support to all deployed GIS solutions by triaging and escalating incidents as needed with other GIS and IT resources.
- Assist other teams with various, ad-hoc GIS requests.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Geography/GIS or another closely related discipline with a strong focus on geographic concepts and principals; or 3+ years of demonstrated real-world experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Esri’s ArcGIS suite of products including vector data creation and management.
- Strong IT skills with the ability to decipher IT vs GIS issues and route accordingly.
- Strong desire to help non-GIS personnel learn and advance their skills and demonstrate how GIS can solve their needs.
- Experience writing and debugging code in Python, C#, C++, JavaScript, HTML, and PHP helpful but not required. Solid analytical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
- Passionate about GIS and Application development
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment where skill sets will develop quickly
- Desire to work in a distributed/virtual team environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to work across functional boundaries
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of variables in dynamic situations
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
