Position Description
The GIS Developer will be part of a GIS Development team using Esri’s ArcGIS suite of products that provide business solutions through interactive mapping applications, both desktop and web-based.. This GIS ecosystem along with Salesforce.com and other fiber management tools is core to Zayo’s architecture and fundamentally supports the company’s overall business strategy. The ideal candidate will be passionate about GIS and Application development and have a desire to work in a fast paced environment where skill sets will develop quickly.
The candidate will develop data, scripts, and applications to help internal Zayo users analyze optimal fiber routes and other assets, to provide the best solution for customers. Responsibilities will include developing, testing, debugging and maintaining an array of custom web-based GIS applications, tools and supporting web services.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain custom applications, tools, and services in an Esri environment using SQL Server, Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, REST, JSON, SQL, and relevant Esri technologies (ArcGIS Enterprise, SDE, Esri APIs)
Design, develop, and support server-based geoprocessing scripts, tools, and processes for automated data updates with Python and SQL statements.
Utilize Agile and Scrum methodologies in order to self-organize, track progress, and update status of projects.
Troubleshoot various GIS issues for a user base of over 100 users. Problems include bugs with tools, server management issues, issues with processes, and questions about new workflows.
Develop and document GIS processes and procedures.
Assist other teams with various, ad-hoc GIS requests.
Qualifications
A degree in Geography/GIS, computer science, or other closely related discipline with a strong focus on geographic concepts and principals.
3-5 years of experience developing GIS applications in Python and JavaScript carrying out medium to large-scale automation processes.
Experience working in an Agile environment using development sprints and Scrum meetings
Extensive knowledge of Esri’s ArcGIS suite of products including vector data creation and management.
Strong IT skills and experience with ArcGIS for desktop, ArcGIS Online, Web App Builder and JavaScript API
Proficient with ESRI Server and Portal use, management of licenses and accounts
Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, and ArcGIS Server
Basic understanding of development, test and production database environments
Experience working on code as part of a team, and specifically giving and receiving feedback on code.
Comfortable troubleshooting GIS issues, balancing a variety of demands independently, training issues, and explaining technical problems to non-technical users.

Knowledge of telecommunications industry helpful
Base salary range: $75,500-$100,650
