About the Position
The Software Engineering team at SALT has an opportunity for a Frontend Software Engineer. If you are a Fullstack Software Engineer, then that's a plus!
This position will work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.
What you'll be doing:
  • Deliver clean and efficient code to support and maintain the automation and scaling of our business using TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Collaborate closely with the team to build new features and applications
  • Write automated tests and leverage type checkers for maximal reliability
  • Collaborate closely on cross-functional teams of designers, developers, and product managers to build new features and maintain existing applications
  • Work in an ever evolving micro-service architecture
  • Consistently document development decisions and processes
  • Integrate with new APIs, including first and third parties

What we are looking for:
  • Domain knowledge and experience working with React and state management libraries
  • Experience shipping high-quality products from start to finish
  • Well-versed in Typescript and Javascript fundamentals
  • Experience with version control in Git and merging of code via Github
  • Experience integrating with REST APIs and backend services
  • Knowledge of semantic HTML and styling with CSS (Sass)
  • Willingness to learn about SALT's stack and contribute to backend Node services
  • Ability and willingness to write tests (Cypress, Jest, React Testing Library)
  • Self-starting personality
  • High-bandwidth communicator in a fast-paced, remote environment
  • Enthusiasm to collaborate with other Devs and QA to build features, diagnose and quickly resolve bugs

What we'd be thrilled with (nice-to-haves):
  • Server side knowledge and experience working in backend Node services
  • Experience with Type systems like Typescript
  • UX / UI design experience
  • Open source software contributor
  • Basic understanding of Bitcoin and Ethereum: general concepts, scripting, smart contracts

Shirley has fully leaned into SALT being a remote-first company. The QA engineer has been traveling in his Toyota Land Cruiser with a pop-top and an RV conversion for months, having driven 9,000 miles around Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. Currently, he’s in Boise, Idaho, and loving the freedom that remote work offers, like being able to code and answer Slack messages, and then hop on his bike in the middle of the day.
Working remotely has given me the freedom to try new cities to figure out what is truly important to me as I look for a ‘home’ or just enjoy being a nomad.

When Smith found out about the Culture Crew at SALT, she immediately volunteered. Now, she participates in brainstorming fun engagement ideas and bringing them to life. Some notable ones? A video meeting where everyone dressed up as characters from “Tiger King,” a secret gift exchange for the holidays, a virtual trivia event, an online game night, a Halloween costume bash and a Zoom instructor-led painting party.
I’m actually learning how to paint because of how much fun I had in our virtual painting class for our employee appreciation event. It was a blast!
