Company Overview:

Arturo is an AI property analytics company that empowers companies with unparalleled property insights to make the most innovative and best decisions for their business and clients. Arturo delivers on-demand property data utilizing multi-source imagery via a configurable API, enabling better risk assessment.

The role:

We’re looking for a Front-End software engineer that can build extensible, robust web applications, with an eye for UI/UX and extensibility. Our product leverages deep learning to produce terabytes of geospatial data--and we’re building web applications to slice it, dice it, view it on maps, and interact with it. The ideal candidate should be an expert in front-end development, have strong geospatial knowledge & skills, be experienced with git & CI/CD systems, and be opinionated about maintenance and testing.

What you will do:

  • Design and implement extensible front-end applications and frameworks for customers and internal users.
  • Work directly with the Product team to analyze business problems to design innovative solutions to respond quickly to customer needs.
  • Participate in design discussions and serve as a resource for development across Arturo’s Application stack.
  • Perform code reviews and analysis.
  • Keep your code tested, deployable, and robust.
  • Assist Customer Operations and customers with software issues. • Work closely with data science, machine learning, and product teams to ensure successful development and timely delivery of new features.

  • BS in Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Previous experience working with React
  • Experience with user interface design
  • Experience: 2+ years writing standards-based, modular JS. You have maintained client-facing features in a high availability application.
  • Strong Architecture skills: The language and stack may change, but high-quality code does not. You care not only about coding solutions that solve today’s problems but also about scale & extensibility.
  • Experience with geospatial datasets and front-end mapping frameworks
  • Self-starter: You enjoy working out problems and can translate high-level tasks and guidance into tested, readable, high-quality code.
  • Fast Learner: We use whatever technology fits the task, not creating tasks that fit the technology. You should be able to learn new languages/tech-stacks and apply them effectively.
  • Team Player: You want others to succeed just as much as you want to yourself and enjoy working in a collaborative environment; working across domains to solve complex, large-scale problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with modern software development best practices (CICD, automated testing, SRE)

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Experience integrating both raster & vector tiled datasets into front-end map applications
  • Experience integrating with backend geospatial APIs such as STAC, WMTS, WFS, etc.
  • Experience with Oauth2 authentication flows
  • Full-stack software competency (python web services, front-end interfaces, databases, high availability, microservices)

A successful Front End Engineer will:

  • Deliver responsively, tested, production quality web apps that meet requirements and are forward compatible with non-breaking API changes • Have a great sense of design, and quickly mock-up ideas for iterating on product requirements
  • Write beautiful documentation and readmes that make installing, using, and deploying their apps a breeze

Why you want to work here:

  • You are excited about building things that do not yet exist
  • You enjoy solving problems that initially seem impossible
  • You relish working alongside passionate, respectful, and intelligent teammates • You value being challenged by those around you to achieve great things • You take pride in your work and want to see results provide tangible value • You keep up with the latest deep learning research
  • You are passionate about geospatial UX
  • You want to create the most sophisticated and accurate products in the InsureTech space
  • Fortune 500 customers will use the outputs of your models to power their business and make decisions
