PlaceWise Digital is looking for a senior front-end developer to help us build our next generation platform. In this role you will move seamlessly between customer-facing and internal projects, building the core styling components of our websites. The right person will have a track record of demonstrating true front-end production skills, and will be working daily on making our CSS and build systems flexible and reliable.

Must live in the Denver area.

Requirements

• During the interview process, be able to provide examples that demonstrate an understanding of the development process, from initial design to fruition
  • Ability to describe what your role and responsibilities were in the project or build process
• Comfortable with dynamic constraints, interacting with and handling feedback from non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to take technical concepts and explain them to non-technical people
• Produce results independently as well as collaboratively
  • Much of the role is self-driven, but the ability to interact with technical and non-technical team members is critical
• Understand the limits and capabilities of front-end web technologies
• Ability to smoothly shift mental gears from concepts to detailed execution

Technical Skills

• HTML5 and CSS3
  • Experience with CSS Grid and/or Flexbox, or an understanding of their capabilities
• CSS Preprocessors (scss) and task runners (grunt, webpack, etc)
  • A basic understanding of their purpose and use
• JavaScript / jQuery
  • This role is primarily on the appearance side, but a solid understanding of JS and/or jQuery will help
• Git and basic command line proficiency
• Examples of your work
  • Codepen, sassmeister, Git, gists, JSFiddle
  • Portfolio site, resume site, personal site (blog, etc)
• A solid foundation of the importance of developing for User Experience
  • Will be asked about times you noticed poor user experience in practice, on the web or otherwise

Things that will set you apart from the pack

• Experience with CSS frameworks i.e. Neat & Bourbon
• Understanding and live examples of grid systems, CSS Grid, CSS Flexbox
• DB Technologies such as SQL server, Postgres, MySQL, etc.
• Have experience with responsive HTML email templates
• Single page app experience
• REST API integration
• JIRA
• Zepplin
• Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience interfacing with various front-end and back-end technologies, frameworks, and services
• The ability to master new technologies, frameworks, and tools while also sharing their learnings and experience with the development team
• Be an advocate for best practices, assist with code reviews, offer technical direction and creative solutions (a background in design is a plus!
