PlaceWise Digital is looking for a Front-End Developer to join our development team. Managing the client-side JavaScript and jQuery components on our sites, you will work on everything from carousels to interactive maps to our ad display platform. This is a great role for someone who wants to build their skills and have a big impact in a real production environment. You will drive innovation and visual impact as we push the envelope of web design for our clients. Building websites is a core part of our business, and we work on hundreds of sites every year.

Our developers have the opportunity, and are expected, to exercise leadership and build expertise in their daily work.

This role is based in our Denver office and reports directly to the Director of Development.

What’s a Typical Week Like?

  • Meet with the development team to discuss the week's strategic and client driven priorities

  • Pair with multi-disciplined development team members to accomplish complex tasks

  • Tackle bug fixes and enhancements to components and sites

  • Meet with digital designers and account management teams to discuss and plan upcoming website launches and enhancements

  • Work with digital designers and account management teams to QA sites

  • Build and test new layouts with the digital design team

  • Partner with product and engineering to QA new designs prior to deploying to production

  • Work with other developers to build functionality to meet sales team/clients needs and requirements

Technical Requirements

  • JavaScript / jQuery

  • This role works primarily in JavaScript and/or jQuery on the front end

  • jQuery plugins

  • Isotope, Selectric, Slick are used on a daily basis

  • Google APIs

  • Google Maps, Google Translate and others as required

  • Git and basic command line proficiency

  • Examples of your work

  • Codepen, sassmeister, Git, gists, JSFiddle

  • Portfolio site, resume site, personal site (blog, etc)

  • A solid foundation of the importance of developing for User Experience

Things that will set you apart from the pack

  • Work done in graphic ‘plugins’ like D3

  • Interactive maps with frameworks like Leaflet

  • Experience with CSS frameworks i.e. Neat & Bourbon

  • Understanding and live examples of grid systems, CSS Grid, CSS Flexbox

  • CSS Preprocessors (scss) and task runners (grunt, webpack, etc)

  • Experience with responsive HTML email templates

  • Single page app experience

  • REST API integration

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience interfacing with various front-end and back-end technologies, frameworks, and services

  • The ability to master new technologies, frameworks, and tools while also sharing their learnings and experience with the development team

  • Be an advocate for best practices, assist with code reviews, offer technical direction and creative solutions (a background in design is a plus!)

  • An eagerness to learn. This is a production role, but upward mobility is always available to those who work to improve their skill set and areas of expertise
