CSG’s vision is to enable our client’s growth with leading business solutions and services that maximize every customer interaction.  In Vantage, we contribute to that vision by extracting data from nearly every business process and presenting that data in multiple meaningful forms, including a client-accessible data store, web-accessible user interface and business intelligent dashboards, in a timely manner.  CSG’s Vantage Plus Software Development Engineering Team is currently hiring a Software Development Engineer to design, develop, implement and support data and analytics solutions.  This team is committed to continuous improvement in how software is developed and it hires like-minded individuals that thrive in such an environment.

 

Ideal candidates will have a passion and dedication to developing high quality applications and solutions in a dev-ops culture employing agile development practices.  As a software development engineer, you will be playing a critical role in building software solutions and collaborating with other talented development engineers, test engineers, DBAs,  product owners, and scrum masters. If you are an experienced software development engineer and are looking to challenge yourself to grow and to contribute significantly to advance a leading data and analytics platform then CSG’s Vantage team is the place for you.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, implement, and support solutions to challenging data reporting problems and business needs.
  • Focus on high-end, reliable, performant, and scalable software solutions with a strong focus on the customer and delivering business value.
  • Actively participate in a self-organized agile development team to prioritize and manage a large workload of development, maintenance, and support activity, and to continuously deliver high-quality results in an iterative fashion.
  • Perform troubleshooting and resolve application/data issues working with client support and operations partners as necessary – sometimes in non-business hours.
  • Adhere to CSG and team policies and practices of secure development, code management, change management, and incident management.
  • Learn and adapt to new technologies as necessary.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of experience in software development
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++/Pro*C, php, Python, SQL and Perl
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

     

Skills and Experiences bringing instant value to the team:

  • Significant development experience in several of the following: ETL tools (preferably AbInitio), Pro*C, C, KSH scripting, apache, php, javascript, Perl, SQL
  • *nix OS skills and experience (preferably RedHat and/or OEL) including shell scripting skills
  • Work experience with relational databases (preferably Oracle) including relational tables as well as dimensional tables and data models
  • Working knowledge of SVN/Git/VSTS or other DDL/source-code version control system

 

 

Skills and Experiences that support the vision and future direction of the team:

  • Significant development experience in several of the following:  Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Jenkins, BladeLogic
  • Skills, experience and passion for continuous integration, test automation, automated deployments, and monitoring/alerting telemetry on the systems you deliver
  • Knowledge in service based architecture, RESTful services and building scalable micro-services
  • Knowledge and experience in cloud-based database and storage options (preferably AWS)
  • Experience building and deploying code in AWS
