Snapdocs is a rapidly growing San Francisco-based real estate technology unicorn backed by leading investors Sequoia, Y Combinator, Tiger Global, F-Prime, and others. We're on a mission to perfect mortgage closings for all. Powering millions of closings a year, Snapdocs is leading the charge to modernize, streamline, and improve the mortgage process for lenders, borrowers, and settlement.

Are you an engineering manager passionate about coding and designing scalable applications? Interested in solving real-world problems for an industry relatively untouched by technology? Read on, friend.

The type of problems we focus on involves workflow, product design, and data. We are working to find a good authentication pattern that allows for people to work across companies in multiple roles (which is trickier than you might think!). Domain-Driven Design is our guiding light. Now we’re looking for a servant-leader type Engineering Manager that has transitioned in recent years from contributing code on a daily to a focus on people, velocity, & execution. This role will be leading our Closing APIs team as we are expanding our API footprint to enable our platform as a service to various customer types. That’s where you come in...

In this highly collaborative role, you’ll spend 90% of your time managing and about 10% in the code yourself (think debugging, conducting code reviews, architecting distributed systems, etc). Your team will consist of 4 full-stack engineers initially with the goal to grow over time. You will drive attraction, growth, and retention of top talent by working closely with the recruiting team. Fully responsible for delivering enterprise software, you’ll grow the capabilities of the team through coaching, mentoring, and direct feedback. This team is tasked to deliver new services which will help us move from product to platform, a high impact and high visibility role. We are an agile scrum shop big on continuous improvement so with your product partner, you will be running sprint planning meetings, stand-ups, retros & post mortems. Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, you’ll help drive innovation and establish best practices across the organization.

During your IC engineering days (5 years? More?) you gained experience to build a service-oriented architecture that powered internal and external products. During that time you worked with at least some of our stack (RoR, GoLang, React.Js, Typescript, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker) building back-end services, APIs & scaling your solutions. You might have picked up proficiency in a few different languages (Java, Scala, Go, or the others) and programming styles (object-oriented, script/procedural, functional, or big data). These days (the past 2 years or so) you can be found coaching, mentoring, performance monitoring, managing scope, reviewing code, making architectural & technical decisions to drive the SDLC. You lead from within and understand that coaching and mentoring are almost always better than “managing” (but you know how and when to do that too).

Colorado applicants: This role pays $152,000 - 175,000 annually plus equity in the company (pay for other locations may vary).
