Engineering Manager

| Greater Denver Area

Respondent is a two-sided marketplace that connects market and user researchers with the highest quality research participants in the world. Our platform gives researchers a single place to quickly find the right participants for their projects, as well as schedule and pay them instantly. It simplifies the work that’s necessary to conducting quality research. Companies like IBM, Airbnb, Uber, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble and many more trust and integrate us into their research processes.

We are a small, quickly growing, fully remote tech startup. Working as a distributed team allows us to hire the best talent regardless of location (right now, everyone works in a continental US Time Zone). All of our employees have areas of expertise as well as a wide breadth of knowledge in their domains. This blog post shares more insight into how we work successfully as a distributed team.

Location

We are big believers in distributed teams! Everyone works in a location that is on a continental US time zone!

An Insider's view of Respondent

What are some social events your company does?

As a completely distributed team, we are very deliberate about ensuring our team gets to know one another! For example, employees are paired with 2-3 other employees to have a virtual “coffee chat” every two weeks. But we recognize that nothing can substitute time in-person, so we also have company-wide retreats every 9 months to work and have fun!

Kat Myers

Head of People Ops

What projects are you most excited about?

To promote high quality participants to our clients, I've been working on an automated pipeline to score participants on a variety of data - user entered information, engagement and behavior etc. I've loved brainstorming and executing on new ways to capture and analyze data. Seeing/measuring its impact across features has been really exciting!

Rayaan

Software Engineer

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

We’ve found that setting company goals has been a hugely beneficial framework for establishing autonomy at Respondent. We want everyone to feel like they have creative license and decision making authority at every level of the company. This is very important to us personally and the foundation for building a long lasting and successful company.
