About the Team VIZIO advertising software solutions is looking for a dedicated Engineering Manager to help drive delivery of our software initiatives in our ad tech teams. We look for people who can mentor and performance direct our full-stack engineering teams to be the best they can be, while partnering with Program & Product Management to deliver roadmap. The position can be held in one of several offices (San Francisco, Dallas, Denver, Irvine, New York), and is responsible for system design, architecture, and infrastructure decisions for our advertising technology stack. We are a close-knit team, focusing on challenging problems that make an impact. We concentrate on high-impact, high-value development, and in this role, you'll be leading the delivery of that value. What You Will Do

  • Lead a team of engineers around delivering against a roadmap
  • Provide mentorship, leadership for engineers in both UI/UX and back-end roles
  • Play a critical role in hiring, retaining, and growing talent on your team
  • Be accountable for delivery by providing clear, transparent communications to leadership and help unblock the organization
  • Work closely with Product and Program to help construct roadmaps
  • Work with engineers to ensure high availability and quality of production software
  • Create, manage, and enforce processes to optimize for high quality software delivery
  • Collaborate with architects and devops to ensure we are using the right technology for the right problems
  • Evangelize coding guidelines, design patterns, and testing (including test automation)

About You

  • You have a BA / MA in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar / relevant field
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • 3+ years of experience in a managerial / leadership role
  • Experience with open-source implementations, cloud environments
  • You've worked in Agile (or related) environments and product development lifecycles
  • Clear and effective communication skills, and can rally a team around delivering high quality, highly scaling software
  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD)
  • Have worked in environments with multiple development languages to solve discrete needs depending on the system involved (e.g., C++ / Java / Python)
  • You are a hard-working team player, with a "no task is too small" attitude
  • Appreciates the challenge of translating highly technical product offerings and concepts for a wide variety of audiences, elucidating the "why", not just the "what"
  • Have a proven ability to self-motivate and be independent, as well as capable of operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
