You can be responsible for spacecraft and satellite power systems from cradle to grave… from the first thoughts about a new mission, through sizing, analyzing, designing, optimizing, building, testing, deploying, and experiencing the satisfaction of seeing on-orbit performance.

What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with a team of ~15 other power system engineers as part of your core team at Ball Aerospace.
- The power systems team will collaborate on tackling complex and challenging tasks.
- Together you will support spacecraft power system development at each phase of the program lifecycle.
- Own several different spacecraft power system roles as the need arises.
- Function as responsible engineer for a battery or solar array.
- Develop a new payload interface box.
- Provide power system sizing for a proposal.
- Lead the power system engineering for a spacecraft.
- Contribute toward advancements in power system architectures for new missions.
- Represent the power systems team to the space vehicle program at all levels, ensuring the power system can meet the mission needs.
- Participate both broadly and deeply in power systems for our space missions.
- Your contributions result in more pictures taken, more planets found, more storms tracked, more intelligence gathered.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Minimum of 4 years direct experience in spacecraft electrical power subsystem engineering or electrical power test or electrical power operations preferred.

- Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Capability to learn and apply tools to perform solar array, battery, power conversion, and distribution sizing, and performance analysis.
- Detailed knowledge relating to some, or all, of the following:
- Lithium-ion batteries
- Solar arrays
- Power control and distribution
- Power conversion, regulation, and/or direct energy transfer architectures
- Charge control methods and power fault protection
- Experience with power simulation tools (e.g., PSPICE, MATLAB, etc.).
- Experience with defining, developing and delivering space qualified hardware.
- Demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and exhibit the skills and competencies of the level.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
- Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Relocation for this position is available.
Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $126,500 - $159,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
